Do we need all these choices to survive? by Claudia Villalta
Globalization is the process of the world integrating. Two of the major players involved with the globalization of our globe are the United Nations and the World Bank. The UN is a peace keeping organization that provides aid to poor counties and protect the environment. The World Bank improved economic infrastructure in poorer countries. Their other goal is to eliminate poverty. Globalization affects the earth, its people and their culture, so caring about the affects of globalization is important.
The costs of globalization most definitely outweigh the benefits. Globalization hurts the earth, people and their culture. We are destroying our environment by globalizing at such a fast speed. Countries exploit natural resources to promote economic growth. People are hired to chop down forests to clear land for new infrastructure. This demolishes the home of large quantity of wild life. Why should the earth and its original inhibitors suffer because of our selfish greed? There is also scientific data showing that globalization is one of the reasons the earth is experiencing climate change. The CO2 being released into our atmosphere is destroying the ozone layer. The ozone layer is what filters out the harmful rays of the sun. Globalization is hurting the earth more than it can or will ever help it.
Here is an image of a forest being chopped down in order to make space for new infrastructure.
